Learning the 2-3 Zone
5th Grade Physical Education


Introduction:
Each Student will learn what their responsibilities are on the basket ball court when asked to play the 2-3 Zone by giving a class presentation using a smart board.

Task:
Each student will be asked to demonstrate (according to position) when they are supposed to move, and where they are expected to be on the court when in a 2-3 Zone by using smart board in a class presentation.

Process:
Each student will use smart board markers to draw and move their position player and other teammates according to the teacher’s instructions. Each student will insert their initials on the top of the position player that they are representing. By Thursday, each student must be prepared to give a class presentation on the 2-3 Zone.

Rubric:
Each student will be graded on how well they utilize the smart board and present it to the class. Each student will also be graded on how well they know the 2-3 Zone.

Text insert and player movement using smart board markers - 40% of grade
Understanding the 2-3 Zone - 20% of grade
Class presentation - 40% of grade

Conclusion:
Students learned how to give a presentation using the smart board. Students also learned how to correctly play a 2-3 Zone defense and the importance of teamwork.

Enrichment:
Congratulations! You are now masters of the 2-3 Zone defense. For all of your efforts and hard work, we will go on a class trip to Madison Square Garden on Friday at 6:00 pm to watch the New York Knicks host the Cleveland Cavaliers. Hope you enjoy the game!
