6th Grade Animal Science
Mammals and Reptiles

Introduction-
Each student will be able to make an interactive presentation by using power point software. Students will also be prepared to research and access needed information by using the World Wide Web. Student would be capable to present their work to an audience.
Task-
All students must create a slide-show presentation containing the following:
o Characteristics of a Mammal and a Reptile (Definition)
o Visual Data (example: pictures)
o Transitional Options (Examples: fading, zooming)

Student’s Presentation must answer the Questions listed below by using the URL’S in the resource section.

§ Where do the animal live? (Examples: Cave, jungle, homes, water.)

§ How does the animal live? (Examples: group, alone.)

§ What does the animal eat? (Examples: Grass, meat, plants.)

§ How does the animal get their food? (Example: Hunt)

§ What species does the animal belong too? (Examples: Mammal, Reptile.)


Students must provide one or more accessible Hypermedia links on their animal.

Each student will have to explain their slide- show to the class.

Each student will be responsible for bring the provided storage device to class everyday.

Process-

§ Choose animal

§ Research and access needed information.

§ Answer questions. *Questions do not have to be answered in a linear form.

§ Create slide-show presentation.

§ Presentations can be work on at home.

§ E-mail finished document to Isaac.Deberry@parks.nyc.gov

Resources-

One hour a day for two weeks in the computer lab.

Storage devices.

Students will be graded on the following-

§ Visual Data- 10%

§ Text- 10%

Conclusion/Enrichment-

Today’s lesson taught student how to identify the Characteristics of a Mammal and a Reptile. Students also learned how to research and access needed information using the World Wide Web. Students now have the capability to present information to an audience by creating a slide show using power point software.
